This time with Milo...we played a brief set along with a few other bands (mostly pretentious preteen cover bands who think they're way better than they actually are) at a very nice recording studio out in the middle of nowhere. Every month or so they do local band showcases, and this was one of those.

About an hour before the show, our singer/guitarist/frontman Devan got DEATHLY SICK. He threw up like three times, lost his voice...talk about Friday the 13th bad luck...so we had to rewrite our setlist at the last minute to minimize his singing. We ended up playing Fingerstache, a mellow song we don't usually play (or practice...it came out surprisingly well for something we haven't played in months), and our other guitarist ended up doing a solo cover (some light-jazz thing by one of those female singer-songwriters that are popular for ten minutes) as the set closer to take up some time. It ended up being the most mellow set we've ever done.

It wasn't all bad, though. The sound crew was fantastic. I got to use their high-end bass amp instead of my shitty one. Even though Dev was sick, he managed to do some great work with his new delay pedal, and played what I think are some of the best solos he's ever done. We also got through an old song we've added a new breakdown to...I have a solo that took us forever to figure out, but it really came together last night. Also, the first cover band drove most of the audience to leave, so even if we didn't sound great, no one was there to hear it anyway. We had the sound crew of about 10, and maybe 7 more people maximum watching.

Dude. He's a genius composer. Definitely one of my favorite musicians right now, with Battles or without.

And also, go right ahead. x]

Hi! Just thought about checking you out.
Question, have you heard of the band Gorillaz? Because Jamie Hewlett is listed as a favourite artist and he does the art for them. Just wondering...
:iconguerrillapop:
Of course I know! I used to be a super-huge-gigantic Gorillaz fan. Now it's milder, but he's still great.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan too. I can't wait for their new album! 2010!!
:iconguerrillapop:
Yes! I'm just a little worried about Damon's comment that it will be 'more accessable than Demon Days'. I was hoping he wouldn't return to straight-up pop and would go darker...

Oh yeah true.
I just can't wait what the characters will look like! New clothes, and new website in February! And...they BETTER use the same talented voice cast.
